OUR PROPHET DEAR

It is hard to explain how you can be shocked when a 97 year old man dies, but I think that it did just that. I knew he was always going to pass on sometime, but I wasn't really expecting this. Even though It makes me sad to see him go I am so happy for him. What a great man! He was serving his whole life and now he gets to be with his sweetheart. What a reunion he will find. I am sure there are many great people in heaven waiting to welcome this man. It is amazing to think that he became the prophet when I was just 15. He has been the leader of the church through the most important part of my life. I know he was a prophet, I have felt that in my heart many times. I am thankful that God gives us guidence in this world where we need it so much. President Hinckley was able to touch so many lives, including mine. As a young women leader I am trying to do my personal progress again, and something I just did a couple weeks ago was memorize a couple hymns. One was I know that my Redeemer lives. By Gordon B. Hinckley. I think this song he wrote sums up his testimony of Jesus Christ. "I know that my Redeemer lives, triumphant Savior, son of God, Victorious over pain and death, My King, my Leader, and my Lord. He lives, my one sure rock of faith, The one bright hope of men on earth, The beacon to a better way, The light beyond the veil of death. Oh give me thy sweet spirit still, The peace that comes alone from thee, The faith to walk the lonely road that leads to thine eternity." Isn't that great!

I think the YW should sing that song, "I know that my Redeemer Lives" for the musical number at New Beginnings. I think it's very fitting for our theme and in rememberance of our Prophet. What do you think?

Remember when he spoke at Ricks when we were there? I loved hearing him speak.

I will miss him so much!
